Triptych Penthouse Brochure

Project Overview

Triptych is a premier boutique apartment address located in the heart of Melbourne's Arts and Entertainment precinct. Comprising of both affordable and high end luxury living options, we were engaged to create a high end brochure that communicated the luxury of newly available and exclusive Triptych Penthouse apartments.

The Penthouse brochure was to be used as a sales tool for both the local and international markets, and therefore inherently needed to reflect the rich values of the building and the luxury of the address via its tone, imagery and over all design.

Project Brief

Taking cue from the architecture and exterior installations by artist Robert Owens, we utilized a polychromatic color palette to create a unique point of difference for the brochure. The reflective nature of the colorful glass exterior served as the inspiration for the final print specification - achieved through UV overprinting onto foil. The resulting metallic finish allows colours to change depending on the light and angle the cover is viewed from.

A signature logo mark embossed with a silver foil was also created specifically for the bespoke envelope housing. The floor plans were celebrated with a super light Alpine cast coated stock reminiscent of large format architectural plans and inserted as sequential gatefolds. The final result was an opulent and superior marketing brochure that sets Triptych apart from it’s competitors.

Project Need

We delivered a point of sales tool that sets our client apart from competitors in a flooded property market.

The use of luxurious paper stocks and an exceptionally difficult to master printing process conveys strength and confidence and commands attention.

Brochure imagery was created with a ‘macro to micro’ approach, showing first the broader context of the Arts Centre precinct, followed by a series of interior photographs taken by Melbourne photographer Peter Bennetts and retouched by image consultants, Visual Thing.

A custom made typeface was created for the project and from this, a reductive signature logo mark was developed. Embossed in a matt silver foil, this logo mark hints at the sumptuous and limited edition brochure housed within the custom made, black envelope.

A very limited number of editions was printed to ensure that the apartments truly did remain exclusive.

Design Challenge

The real challenge for us was to create a point of difference for the marketing brochure that would set the Penthouse apartments apart from the plethora of 'exclusively' themed properties on the market.

To communicate a feel of opulence and luxury, we developed a high end print specification through careful consideration of stocks, finishes and printing techniques. The final specification and result was achieved via UV overprinting four colour process onto a heavyweight
artboard, that had a full coverage of mirror silver foil. The
resulting effect is a shimmering, metallic finish, that allows
the colours to morph and change depending on what light
and angle the publication is viewed from. The text pages
were printed onto Hanno Silk, and sealed with matt satin varnish to further evoke the feelings of luxury and quality. As with all property publications and sales tools, the floorplans are an integral and extremely important component. In the case of the Triptych brochure, rather than trying hide these within the text pages, we decided to celebrate the plans, and utilised a super light weight
Alpine cast coated stock to our advantage. The stock, (which
is reminiscent of stock used in large format architectural
plan prints) was inserted as sequential tip-ins, glossy
side out, and uncoated side in.

Working closely with Bambra print, we mastered a technique that is extremely hard to produce, and therefore is rarely seen within Australia.

Sustainability

Elemental chlorine free paper stocks from sustainable sources were selected for the brochure, with the Hanno silk in particular produced by the environmentally aware and socially conscious paper manufacturer Sappi (Germany), with a FSC certification.

We worked very closely with a local printer (Bambra Press) to produce this brochure using a Melbourne based company.

A very limited number of brochures were produced.
